Job offer: Postdoc position in the project “DigEanna: Digitalization of the Eanna Archive”
We invite applications for the position of a postdoctoral researcher in the WEAVE-Unisono project “DigEanna:
Digitalization of the Eanna Archive” directed by Michael Jursa (project coordinator, Vienna), Johannes Hackl
(Jena), and Małgorzata Sandowicz (Warsaw). The successful candidate will join the Warsaw team at the
Department of Ancient Near Eastern Studies of the Faculty of Oriental Studies.
Duration of employment: 36 months, starting on 1 October 2024 or shortly thereafter.
Salary: 12,000 PLN gross per month.
Requirements
PhD in the field of Ancient Near Eastern studies, received no earlier than seven years prior to
employment on the project, from an institution other than the University of Warsaw (alternatively, a
candidate who has received their PhD at the University of Warsaw and spent at least 10 months in
another academic institution)
outstanding knowledge of the Neo-Babylonian dialect of Akkadian and the history and culture of first-
millennium BCE Babylonia
experience in working with cuneiform tablets and their photos
experience in database management
excellent command of English, oral and written
creativity and teamwork skills
Duties
digitalizing and classifying cuneiform documents
assembly of prosopographic data
research visits to museums
publication of academic papers related to the project’s theme
co-organization of workshops and scholarly meetings
disseminating project results
